As President Joe Biden wastes taxpayer money on a foreign trip to Papua New Guinea to promote “inclusive economic growth,” millions of Americans are struggling to make ends meet amidst a faltering economy and a debt default crisis looming on the horizon.

House Republicans have taken action to raise the debt ceiling and curb wasteful government spending, but their efforts have been obstructed by Democrat Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY), who has refused to hold a Senate vote on the bill. Biden has made it clear that he will not negotiate on raising the debt limit, despite the impending catastrophe.

In a recent meeting with congressional leaders, Biden expressed his willingness to discuss his budget and spending priorities, but only on his own terms and not “under the threat of default.” This stubborn refusal to engage in meaningful negotiations has left the country in a perilous situation, with the crisis set to hit in just a few short weeks.

According to Breitbart:

Biden’s foreign trip to encourage “inclusive economic growth” comes as 75 percent of Americans believe U.S. economic conditions are getting worse. A CBS News/YouGov poll found 97 percent of Americans say Biden’s sagging economy, a concern that has remained dominant for months, is the top issue of importance.

As soon as June 1, the nation is set to default on the nation’s debt. But the crises could be avoided. Last month, House Republicans passed a bill to raise the debt ceiling and cut wasteful government spending.

Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) has refused to hold a Senate vote on the bill, and the White House has claimed it will not negotiate on raising the debt limit.

When asked if Biden would postpone the foreign trip to deal with the debt ceiling crisis, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters that “the president can be a president anywhere… This is something that Congress can take care of today.”

Instead of addressing the pressing needs of the American people, Biden has chosen to jet off to a foreign country for a meaningless photo op to promote “inclusive growth.” It is unconscionable that he would prioritize other countries struggling economies over the struggling and declining economy of our own and the well-being of the nation he purports to lead.

While lawmakers and their staff continue to work on the federal budget, the clock is ticking. If the debt ceiling is not raised by June 1st, the government will be unable to pay its bills, plunging the country into chaos. Biden must stop playing politics and start taking action to avert this disaster.
