Former President Donald Trump is taking to Truth Social to criticize Florida Governor Ron DeSantis following the loss of two candidates endorsed by the governor in the GOP primary. Trump expressed his disappointment through Truth Social, highlighting that DeSantis’ supported candidate performed poorly and also suffered a defeat in the Jacksonville mayoral race. These criticisms arise amid rumors of DeSantis considering a run for the GOP presidential nomination, potentially pitting him against Trump. Recent polling indicates that a majority of potential GOP primary voters favor Trump for the 2024 election.

Adding to DeSantis’ challenges, a significant number of Florida Representatives, including Matt Gaetz, Brian Mast, Anna Paulina Luna, Cory Mills, Greg Steube, Byron Donalds, Vern Buchanan, Gus Bilirakis, Michael Waltz, and John Rutherford, have endorsed Trump while snubbing DeSantis. Rep. Laurel Lee is currently the sole Florida Representative to support DeSantis in a potential presidential bid.

According to Politico:

Cameron, who earned Trump’s endorsement early on, won the Republican nomination for Kentucky governor Tuesday night. DeSantis endorsed Kelly Craft, who looked likely to finish third in the GOP primary.

“The Trump culture of winning is alive and well in Kentucky,” Cameron said at the top of his victory speech.

DeSantis’ pick for Jacksonville mayor also lost Tuesday night when Democrat Donna Deegan defeated Republican Daniel Davis.

“Wow! In a big upset, the DeSanctimonious backed Republican candidate for Mayor of Jacksonville, Florida, LOST. This is a shocker,” Trump said in a Truth Social post Wednesday. “If they would have asked me to Endorse, he would have won, easily. Too proud to do so. Fools! This is a BIG LOSS for the Republican Party. Remember, ‘Rob’ only won because of me!!!”

Former President Donald Trump’s criticism of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis escalates as two candidates endorsed by DeSantis face defeats in the GOP primary. DeSantis gained prominence as a potential contender for the 2024 Presidential election following the successful performance of his endorsed candidates during the November 2020 Midterm elections. However, these recent losses and Trump’s strong support in recent polls among potential primary voters have put DeSantis’ presidential aspirations in question.
