Comedic Contradictions: Biden Says He’s Against Abortion

In an amusing twist of irony, Joe Biden proudly claimed his Catholicism, yet, in the same breath, displayed his staunch support for abortions up to birth. This proclamation occurred at a campaign fundraising dinner in Maryland, leaving the crowd of 100 both perplexed and chuckling.

“I’m a practicing Catholic,” Biden stated, despite his views falling dramatically out of step with the longstanding pro-life stance of the Catholic Church. Seemingly oblivious to his own contradiction, he continued, “I’m not big on abortion, but guess what? Roe vs. Wade got it right.”

For someone who’s not “big” on abortion, Biden’s ardent support of the Supreme Court decision that resulted in 64 million abortions is rather paradoxical. The notorious case allowed abortions up to birth, unless individual states imposed limitations.

Biden didn’t stop there, though. He continued to praise abortion rights while disparaging the pro-life laws adopted by 14 states after the Dobbs decision. “He also criticized states that have passed laws restricting access to abortion,” according to Yahoo News.

Biden’s contradictory claims haven’t escaped the watchful eyes of Catholic leaders. Bishop Michael Burbidge of Arlington, Virginia, was one among them to voice his disapproval.

“President Biden recently stated that… his top priority will be pro-abortion legislation,” Burbidge said, not mincing his words. “I condemn abortion and any political tactic that would codify abortion as national policy.”

He added, “We witness firsthand the wounds women and men endure after ending the life of their child.” The Bishop concluded his remarks by encouraging peaceful opposition to any attempts to enshrine abortion in law from all “Catholic faithful and all people of good will.”

In this humorous display of cognitive dissonance, Biden has added yet another contradiction to his already confounding political repertoire.
