As it stands, it is ambiguous whether the latter has already transpired.

A representative for Scott Perry (R-Pa.), the chairperson of the Freedom Caucus, chose not to provide a statement regarding the group’s vote or disclose the current standing of Greene’s membership.

Representative Andy Harris, a caucus member, believes that Greene’s expulsion would constitute an “appropriate action”. He attributes this standpoint to several factors, including her vote on the debt deal, her vocal support for Kevin McCarthy, and her open criticism of other Freedom Caucus members. The dispute over Greene’s standing escalated further following a public altercation between her and Representative Lauren Boebert. The disagreement climaxed with Greene resorting to inflammatory language, referring to Boebert as a “little bitch.” This incident intensified the need for resolution within the caucus, and it sparked further discussion about Greene’s status.

Despite the ongoing tension, some caucus members are eager to reconcile their differences with Greene before resorting to formal expulsion proceedings. It remains within the realm of possibility that the caucus chair or board could intervene to halt or slow down any potential expulsion proceedings, in a bid to defuse the current discord.

Intriguingly, Greene’s affiliation with Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy — often regarded as a moderate and not particularly popular among Freedom Caucus members — persists undeterred. Despite the uneasy dynamics within the caucus, Greene maintains a staunch position advocating for the impeachment of President Joe Biden.
