Junior GOP Senator from Arkansas Tom Cotton is already looking beyond 2020.

According to a report from Business Insider, Cotton is laying the groundwork for a potential 2024 presidential campaign.

The 43-year-old Army veteran made a trek to New Hampshire – a state which boosts it’s “First in The Nation” primary – to campaign alongside republican candidates this week.

He campaigned alongside former Trump campaign and administration official Matt Mowers who is running for New Hampshire’s first congressional district and Corky Messner, a corporate attorney, who’s challenging US Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D) (Business Insider):

On Monday morning, Cotton made sure his face mask was on for the lone camera rig — from WMUR, the only local TV news outlet in New Hampshire — at a press conference he held with Matt Mowers, a Republican congressional candidate.

Inside the local American Legion chapter in Londonderry, a wealthy suburb of Manchester, his hefty double-tied blue mask rested around his neck as law-enforcement officials across the table discussed the challenges of their profession following the police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

Facing a safe reelection, Cotton spoke about his military experience in Iraq and Afghanistan to make a point about bad cops.

“You know, when I was in the Army, we used to say that we spend 95% of our time on 5% of our soldiers,” Cotton said. “I bet you say the same thing in your departments.”

Cotton is facing re-election in Arkansas this year but the Democrats did not nominate a candidate to run against him which allows him the ability to travel to places like Iowa and New Hampshire to lay the groundwork for a possible White House bid.

While he’s had some disagreements with President Trump – mostly on foreign policy – we can expect to see Cotton continue to appear on Fox News and travel to early 2024 nominating states as he seeks to become an heir to the MAGA movement.
