While Trump was President, he would often say to his voters to “primary the hell out of’ em” when GOP lawmakers would break with the party on major legislation. He said the same phrase during his speech on Jan 6th, to primary politicians if they vote to validate the Electoral College ballots and now again for voting in favor of his impeachment. These Republicans voted in favor of a second impeachment and so far 7 of them are being censured or rebuked by their state or local GOP. This could make them face primary challengers in 2022.
