Georgia Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene has announced her intention to rebuke FBI Director Christopher Wray during a congressional session. Greene confidently stated that Wray’s contempt of Congress is a certainty. The basis for this rebuke stems from Wray’s refusal to disclose a specific document linked to President Joe Biden to the House Oversight Committee.
Engaging in a tense conversation with the Daily Caller, Greene implied that the committee possesses a greater advantage than Wray realizes, hinting at a substantial amount of undisclosed information and the involvement of a whistleblower. The core of the disagreement revolves around an FBI-generated FD-1023 form, which allegedly exposes an unethical exchange of policy decisions for monetary gain.

Senate Budget Committee ranking member Sen. Chuck Grassley and House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. James Comer sent letters to the FBI in May, calling on the Bureau to produce an unclassified record of an alleged criminal scheme involving then-Vice President Joe Biden and a foreign national.
“Contempt is coming. That, that one is guaranteed he is – we are going to hold him in contempt of Congress. We have to and that is, that’s the right thing to do. That’ll be step one and then we’ll be making decisions from there,” Greene continued.
Greene introduced articles of impeachment against Wray on May 16. The Caller asked Greene if she thinks support to impeach Wray would grow if they held him in contempt of Congress, to which she said it is all up to Wray.
“I think it’s up to Christopher Wray. We’ve already said we’re holding them in contempt. I think he’s got the steering wheel for just a little while longer on how our conference feels about him. But a lot of us that are already there for impeachment and there’s a lot more that are there for contempt, and so I’ll just say Christopher needs to think carefully about what his job means and the right way to do it, and the right way to do it is to hand over the unclassified form that he has been hiding and refuses to hand over to the Oversight Committee,” Greene said.
On May 16, 2023, Greene took a bold step by introducing articles of impeachment against Wray. When asked if the upcoming contempt of Congress could push the needle further towards impeachment, Greene squarely placed the blame on Wray. She asserted that Wray still holds some control over the congressional sentiment towards him, essentially being in the driver’s seat for the time being.
However, Greene issued a stern warning, highlighting a significant faction ready to pursue impeachment and an even larger group preparing for contempt. The representative from Georgia urged Wray to carefully consider the responsibilities of his position and his commitment to transparency, particularly regarding the disputed unclassified form. She implied that Wray’s forthcoming actions could either calm the growing storm or exacerbate it.
