Another Trump job has allegedly been filled. NYT reported that a Gingrich will become Trump’s next diplomat appointment:
Less than two weeks before a potentially tense and diplomatically delicate meeting with Pope Francis at the Vatican, President Trump has apparently settled on nominating Callista Gingrich, the wife of Newt Gingrich, the former House speaker, as the United States ambassador to the Holy See, according to two people close to the president.
Mrs. Gingrich had some fierce competition for the post:
Others who were considered include Rick Santorum, the former senator from Pennsylvania, who was an early favorite for the position but took his name out of the running because of the financial strain it would put on his family, according to one of the people with knowledge of the nomination process.
Ms. Gingrich, a member of the choir at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, played a critical role in Mr. Gingrich’s conversion to Catholicism.
Like Senator Santorum, Newt and Calista Gingrich have been veracious supporters of the President. Most recently, Newt Gingrich has been working with Great America Alliance to support the President’s agenda:
During the 2016 campaign Great America PAC, led by a team of seasoned professionals with decades of political experience, was the largest group supporting President Trump’s election
Now, that same team has formed the Great America Alliance, a 501c4 issue advocacy organization, to help realize President Trump’s promise to “Make America Great Again” as the largest outside group to support President Trump’s agenda.
Our mission is to advocate for a stronger economy, a more secure nation, and a society with less government intrusion and more freedom for American citizens. Our goal is to build on the success of having created the most effective 21st century grassroots machine and turn that powefull infrastructure in support of President Trump’s agenda.
Mrs. Gingrich will make a fine ambassador to the Vatican. Her nomination should move through the Senate without a hitch.
