Active duty member of the military or those connected to government services had anxiety over the weekend because Democrats wanted to shut down the government. While the government continues to pay for Social Security benefits and essential services, some did not have that assurance. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi on the other hand, had no such anxiety. She and her House Democrats were living it up at Acqua al 2, a high-end D.C. restaurant.

This isn’t a paper napkin kind of place. An image from their website shows them selling wine for $32 a glass, and $7 to taste. Renting a room there for an event runs from $1,600-6,000. They boast on their menu that one can eat three courses for $35, but Pelosi isn’t exactly known for her thrift. It is not clear from reports whether Pelosi dipped into her own millions to pay the tab, or whether you paid for it.
What is truly remarkable is that if Republicans had chosen to celebrate their recent tax cut victory by dining on filet mignon and expensive wines, you would have heard all about it from the media. A cursory search of the internet leaves this as a profoundly under-reported story. Better still, imagine the Republicans had shut down the government, then dined on such exquisite fare. Give it to Democrats: they know how to celebrate.
