Boy, that escalated quickly. It’s almost as if the Democrats didn’t learn their lesson from the last election, as Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) automatically pivoted to the race card. “Let me just say what I said last night: that plan is a campaign to make America white again,” Pelosi said, claiming that Trump’s plan will cut legal immigration by 50 percent.
 
Pelosi delivered her remarks to a gathering of the United States Conference of Mayors, a number of which preside over sanctuary cities that the Justice Department is looking to defund. Schumer, not to be outdone took to Twitter to echo Pelosi’s sentiments: “This plan flies in the face of what most Americans believe,” Schumer tweeted. President Trump “finally acknowledged that the Dreamers should be allowed to stay here and become citizens, he uses them as a tool to tear apart our legal immigration system and adopt the wish list that anti-immigration hard-liners have advocated for years.” 
 
President Trump offered a compromise to the all amnesty no security Democrats and was met with inflammatory accusations of racism. In 2016, Democrats called border security advocates racist and failed to attain the support of the American people. Democrats are on the wrong side of the American people on this issue, and if they keep insulting the voters and their intelligence, will play right into the President’s hands, and give him the Republicans votes he needs to move forward on border security. This is a fight Trump can win, because he already won it once before, and Democrats are doubling down on failure.
