Tuesday night was a bad night to be an elected Democrat. Their underfunded party sat with stone faces as President Trump offered solutions that they once would have lauded.
The President will let some DACA people become citizens in exchange for serious border security; he will rebuild their home districts with new infrastructure funding; he even mentioned vocational schools, the chosen prop of their slobbering response speech. Why wouldn’t they smile at that, or even give a golf clap?
Democrats can’t be caught dead agreeing with the President because their base will freak out. Yet, CBS reported that 43% of Democrat State of the Union viewers approved of the speech.
Democrats either make the Resistance happy(ish) and keep staring daggers at the President while they hemorrhage sane voters or cross the aisle and anger the hard left. President Trump ate their lunch on live TV, which might explain the dirty looks.
