Sen. Jon Tester (D-Mont.) needs you to know that he likes Donald Trump. So much so that he’s running ads about how many bills that he sent to President Trump’s desk.

TrumpTrainNews reported an Axios poll last week that showed Tester trailing to a generic Republican 42 percent to 55 percent. President Trump enjoys a 58 percent approval rating in Montana, according to the same poll. 

Tester’s trouble is that voters who support the president aren’t going to appreciate his opposition to the Tax Cut and Jobs Act, which repealed Obamacare’s Individual Mandate to buy expensive insurance or be fined,  on top of his initial support of Obamacare, and his vote against repeal. Jon Tester is all in for Obamacare, and Montana isn’t happy about it.

Tester may cozy up to Trump as he gets religion in an election year, but he’s still a pretty reliable vote for Chuck Schumer. Liberal money flowed in to save him in 2012, but it may not be enough in 2018.
