Trump Hints At Using Military To Build Wall

President Trump is taking heat right now for signing the Omnibus Bill, which by all rights, was a classic example of why conservatives hate swamp politics. But did the Democrats just accidentally hand him a win? Last week, Sen. Chuck Schumer, N.Y., crowed that if Mexico was supposed to pay for the wall, that the omnibus would not include funding for it. The omnibus is said to read that they may only use existing fence types, meaning no wall. The president tweeted early on Sunday morning that the military could solve this problem.

President Trump could use his commander in chief powers to direct the military to start construction on the wall, as the Army Corps of Engineers is already vetting prototypes. From the tweet, it may be the case that the president is funding up the military with this possibility in mind, particularly if Democrats continue to block funding for the wall through the front door.

Given how many wars, small and large, have been executed at the behest of presidents, Congress would be in a tough spot. Democrats would scream indignantly that it’s an abuse of power, but the president is not about to let his signature issue sink into the swamp. It’s a fight he’d be willing to take up.
