U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) apprehended 311,000 people and removed approximately 226,000 people from the country in the 2017 fiscal year. Of those, deportations were up 42 percent last year over 2016 at around 111,000 people. The Mexican government reports that over 53,000 Mexicans have been deported, and the trend is increasing through the end of 2018.
