Hillary Clinton’s running mate only had a three-point advantage against a generic Republican in the recent Morning Consult poll; the commonwealth only went for Hillary by five points in 2016. Kaine’s opponent hasn’t emerged from the primary yet, but Kaine is waning in popularity since his national run with Clinton. Virginia is swamp adjacent and has become a Democrat state in recent years, but even Clinton’s running mate is feeling the pressure.
