Speaking on Wednesday, President Trump confirmed that he will fix the border issue. Trump said “I’ll be signing something…” possibly referring to an executive order. He also said it will be matched by legislation.
According to The Hill:
President Trump on Wednesday said he will sign “something” intended to end his administration’s controversial practice of separating children from their parents who illegally cross the southern border.
“I’ll be signing something in a little while that’s going to do that,” Trump told reporters at the White House. “I’ll be doing something that’s somewhat preemptive and ultimately will be matched by legislation I’m sure.”
Details about the order remain unknown.
The move would be a major reversal for Trump and comes after the president and his top aides insisted for days that only Congress could halt family separations at the border.
Congress has failed to act, so President Trump appears to be taking matters into his own hands. This is an issue that should garner bipartisan support but has continually been obstructed by the Democrats.
