McConnell’s Warning To Dems On SCOTUS Confirmation

Senator Mitch McConnell is set to lead the charge on confirming Trump’s latest Supreme Court Nominee. Before it gets underway, he has a warning for the Senate Democrats.

According to The Daily Wire:

As Democrats drag their feet to delay the vote on the confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court by requesting over a million pages in records of his past decisions, Mitch McConnell has warned the opposition to tread softly or face consequences.

With the mid-term elections in November, McConnell hopes to get Kavanaugh confirmed by October 1. Democrats wish to keep that from happening, and since they do not have the votes to block Kavanaugh, they can only delay the process.

McConnell says that would be a bad move, however, because the closer the vote gets to the mid-terms, the more pressure red-state Democrats will face. Should they lose the confirmation just days before the election, McConnell says the Dem base will be “deflated.”

“To me, it’s in their best interest to have that vote done for a lot of their red-state senators who are facing their voters,” GOP Conference Chairman John Thune said. “One, you’re stuck here, you can’t get home. And two, the vote is going to be of significant consequence in a lot of those races. I don’t know how it’s to their benefit to drag it out.”

McConnell is giving the Dems fair warning, we will see if the Democrats listen in the coming months.
