GOP Rep Mark Meadows has broken his silence on the possibility of becoming President Trump’s next chief of staff. The current Representative said it would be “an incredible honor” to work in that capacity.
According to Fox News:
Rep. Mark Meadows, R-N.C., is indicating he is open to becoming the next White House chief of staff following the anticipated departure of John Kelly.
Meadows, the chairman of the conservative and highly influential House Freedom Caucus on Capitol Hill, told Politico in a statement that it would be “an incredible honor” if he was chosen for the post, but acknowledged Trump has a “long list of qualified candidates” to choose from.
“Serving as Chief of Staff would be an incredible honor,” Meadows said. “The President has a long list of qualified candidates and I know he’ll make the best selection for his administration and for the country.”
Meadows’ communication’s director, Ben Williamson, confirmed the statement in a tweet.

Meadows has been a Trump defender since he took office and could be a valuable asset helping the administration navigate Capitol Hill. It remains unclear if he will be Trump’s pick to replace John Kelly.
