Trump More Popular in New York Than de Blasio

A new poll shows that President Trump has a higher favorability rating in liberal New York state than New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio.

According to The Washington Free Beacon:

New York City mayor and Democratic presidential candidate Bill de Blasio is viewed favorably by fewer New York state voters than President Donald Trump, a new poll shows.

A Siena College poll showed that 29 percent of New Yorkers view de Blasio favorably, with 53 percent viewing him unfavorably. Trump was viewed favorably by 34 percent, although he had a higher unfavorable rating at 63 percent. Only 3 percent didn’t have an opinion on Trump, while 17 percent didn’t have one on de Blasio.

De Blasio was underwater with Democrats (39 favorable/45 unfavorable), Republicans (13/70), and Independents (24/58). Trump was viewed unfavorably by wide margins among Democrats (19/77) and Independents (32/65) as well. In keeping with his national popularity with the GOP, however, Trump held a 70/29 split with the state’s Republicans.

De Blasio, who entered the 24-candidate Democratic field last month, has tried to brand Trump as “Con Don.” When the second-term mayor entered the race, Trump filmed a video welcoming him to the contest while also calling him the worst mayor in the United States and the worst mayor in New York City’s history.

de Blasio is not popular in New York City which is surprising seeing as he was re-elected. However, that fluke doesn’t look like it will happen in Iowa where not a single respondent picked de Blasio.
