Top Trump advisor Kellyanne Conway announced she will leave the White House at the end of August.
Conway, one of Trump’s longest-serving advisors, joined his campaign as a senior advisor before becoming his campaign manager. Prior to joining Trump’s 2016, bid she served as ran a pro-Ted Cruz Super Pac before he dropped out.
In her statement, Conway said she will be leaving her post as Senior Counselor to the President to focus on her family.
“I will be transitioning from the White House at the end of this month. George is also making changes. We disagree about plenty but we are united on what matters most: the kids,” said Conway.
“Our four children are teens and ‘tweens starting a new academic year, in middle school and high school, remotely from home for at least a few months. As millions of parents nationwide know, kids “doing school from home” requires a level of attention and vigilance that is as unusual as these times,” Conway continued.
“For now, and for my beloved children, it will be less drama, more mama,” Conway concluded.
George and Kellyanne Conway’s daughter recently made headlines has caught recent headlines for his criticism of President Trump, while George has been working with an anti-Trump group. He announced last evening he is withdrawing from those efforts to focus on their family.
In her statement Conway also gave her gratitude to the President and First Lady:
“I am deeply grateful to the President for this honor, and to the First Lady, the Vice President and Mrs. Pence, my colleagues in the White House and the Administration, and the countless people who supported me and my work. As many convention speakers will demonstrate this week, President Trump’s leadership has had a measurable, positive impact on the peace and prosperity of the nation, and on millions of Americans who feel forgotten no more.”
Conway emphasized that this is her choice and she will be announcing her future professional plans “in time”. Given her extensive resume as a pollster and political strategist don’t expect her to sit on the sidelines for too long.
