President Trump opened up the 2020 Republican National Convention in Charlotte, NC with a speech that got the crowd going.
The crowd began to chant “four more years”, but Trump offered a better suggestion to the ecstatic audience.
“Now if you really want to drive ‘em crazy you say 12 more years,” President Trump said in jest.
The crowd then began to chant “12 more years”.
“Because we caught them doing some really bad things in 2016. Let’s see what happens. We caught ‘em doing some really bad things,” Trump continued.
“We have to be very careful because they are trying it again with this whole 80 million mail-in ballots that they’re working on. Sending ‘em out to people who didn’t ask for them. They didn’t ask. They just get ‘em and it’s not fair, it’s not right,” explained Trump.
“It’s not going to be possible to tabulate in my opinion. In my opinion, it’s just my opinion. You have to be careful and you have to watch everyone,” he concluded.

Trump was right.
It drove them crazy.
Various Democrats and members of the media lost it:
Don't fall for Trump's "joke": he's not kidding about 12 more years. My dispatch from day one of the virtual RNC. https://t.co/dmfVJQLCdq

Autocrats create one-person parties of their own (as Putin did) or reduce once-vibrant parties to personality cults (see: Viktor Orban in Hungary). The no-platform GOP now joins them, offering no ideas, just fealty to “12 more years” #Trump.

“12 more years!” Trump’s opening speech got the #RNC2020 off to a dark start https://t.co/GTEidvn2ch

Trump: "If you wanna really drive 'em crazy, you say 12 more years."
Our veterans have fought and died serving our country to protect us from dictators who think this way.
Trump deserves at least 12 more years in prison.

Trump just kicked off the RNC by calling for "12 more years."
After years of kissing up to oppressive dictators, he's determined to become one himself.
We must all unite to deny Trump's destructive, megalomaniac vision of the future. By his own words, our democracy is at stake.

Trump (who seems quite excited about getting to do four days of faux rally) arrives at the @GOPconvention and gets the crowd to chant "12 more years." TWELVE. He's going full Putin, apparently. And his party is cool with it.

It’s incredible; President Trump can draw up a play, tell the other team exactly what he is doing, and they still fall for it.
