Democrat leaders are calling for President Trump’s removal by impeachment or the 25th Amendment. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Minority Leader Chuck Schumer are blaming President Trump for the violence seen yesterday as protestors stormed the Capitol building during a Joint Session to certify the Electoral College’s votes for Joe Biden.

Read Nancy Pelosi’s remarks reported by The Hill:
“Yesterday the president of the United States incited an armed insurrection against America,” Pelosi told reporters in the Capitol. “The gleeful desecration of the U.S. Capitol, which is the temple of our American democracy, and the violence targeting Congress are horrors that will forever stain our nation’s history — instigated by the president.”
Pelosi characterized Trump’s role in his supporters’ storming of the Capitol as “a seditious act” and called on Pence and other members of the president’s cabinet to join forces to remove Trump from office, despite his short time left in office.
“This is an urgency of the highest magnitude,” Pelosi said.
“While there are only 13 days left, any day can be a horror show for America,” she added.
Pelosi echoed a similar statement from Chuck Schumer who previously recommended Trump be removed from office.
The quickest and most effective way—it can be done today—to remove this president from office would be for the Vice President to immediately invoke the 25th amendment.
If the Vice President and the Cabinet refuse to stand up, Congress must reconvene to impeach President Trump.

Fox News reports:
“What happened at the U.S. Capitol yesterday was an insurrection against the United States, incited by the president,” Schumer, D-N.Y., said in a statement Thursday. “This president should not hold office one day longer.”
“The quickest and most effective way – it can be done today – to remove this president from office would be for the vice president to immediately invoke the 25th Amendment,” Schumer continued. “If the vice president and the Cabinet refuse to stand up, Congress should reconvene to impeach the president.”
While Democrats want Trump removed by force other lawmakers such as Lindsey Graham are pushing for a peaceful transition of power between Trump and Biden. During a press conference, Graham called Schumer and Pelosi’s request to remove Trump “political talk.”
