Chinese Information Warfare
China, as a world power, has been extremely successful in the game of information warfare. China has been able to manipulate members of other countries as well as foreign businesses to make an impact on public opinion.
Currently, China is in poor standing with most of the US citizenry but major US companies are willing to bend over backward to appease China. Disney, Activision-Blizzard, and vast portions of Hollywood want access to the eastern market and will do anything for Chinese Communist approval.
Outside of the entertainment industry, many companies have their goods produced in China or have key components manufactured there. These companies may also be willing to move for China’s approval.
China has shown us in the past that they are no stranger to spreading disinformation. The CCP routinely hires out citizens to go on the wider internet and mass report anti-Chinese posts and promote pro-Chinese messages. This tactic is commonly used on mass media platforms like YouTube and Facebook, two platforms where a staggering amount of people get their news from.
