New York City has been in the headlines constantly for its buffoon of a mayor and its handling of the Covid-19 pandemic. The city’s defunding of the police felt like a footnote with everything going on, but this slash to the budget had a real effect on locals of the big apple and the data doesn’t lie, there were serious consequences in regards to public safety after the budget cuts. 

As a result of the overwhelming data the New York City police department has not only had its funding restored, it has seen its funding increased beyond what it was prior to the defund the police movement.
