GOP Senator Calls for Annual Senility Tests for Aging Politicians

Louisiana Senator Bill Cassidy says that aging politicians should be required to undergo annual senility tests. The Republican senator said during an “Axios on HBO” interview that aging politicians like President Joe Biden, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and Senator Minority Leader Mitch McConnell should undergo the tests to assure the American people they are mentally equipped to carry out their duties.

The Daily Wire reports:

Cassidy, a gastroenterologist, said that people generally begin a “rapid decline” when they hit 80 years old.

“It’s usually noticeable,” the senator said. “So anybody in a position of responsibility who may potentially be on that slope, that is of concern. And I’m saying this as a doctor.”

“I’m told that there have been senators in the past who, at the end of their Senate terms were senile,” Cassidy added. “I’m told that was true of senators of both parties.”

And the tests should be “annual,” Cassidy suggested. “We each have a sacred responsibility to the people of the United States. It is not about me. It is about my ability to serve the people.”

Senator Cassidy isn’t the first person to raise concerns about Biden’s cognitive fitness regarding his age. Republican Representative and former White House physician Ronny Jackson previously claimed Biden wasn’t fit for office and demanded he undergoes testing.
