Abraham Lincoln
President Abraham Lincoln oversaw the most important period in American History, the civil war was a bloody conflict that cost countless lives and it is also the war that resulted in the end of the practice of slavery, something the founders wanted to do away with but could not as a result of the nation only being in its infancy. Lincoln appointed the right generals to win the war and was able to set America on the path of reconstruction during his presidency. Although he was unpopular in his own time, Lincoln is given the credit he deserves now in modern America.
