Russia’s Annexation of Crimea

In 2014, during the Obama administration, Russia annexed Crimea which was a Ukrainian territory. The events that led to this incident are still widely debated but several “terror cells” popped up in the region and Russian forces came in and “saved the day”, these troops then stayed in the region with the rest of the Russian military that came as back up. It is believed that the “terror cells” in the region were Russian mercenaries that were hired to run cover for the take over of the region. These actions were challenged with word and sanctions by the Obama Administration.
