North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper is a prime candidate for Democrats as he had managed to persevere through many tough elections in the past and is relatively non-controversial. The Post pointed out “the North Carolinian checks lots of boxes. He’s also, like Brown, a repeat winner in a tough state that Democrats would love to put on the map.”
