This story is breaking and will be updated as more information is available.

It seems that reports of CNN’s streaming service failure were not over-exaggerated. The Daily Mail has reported that CNN+ will be shut down after reporting dismal subscriptions since its launch last month.

The Daily Mail first reported the news:

Warner Bros Discovery is expected to shut down struggling CNN+ after just 150,000 signed up, reports say.

Bosses reportedly told workers this morning there would be an ‘important meeting’ at lunchtime where they would hear the news.

Insiders are believed to have said incoming CEO Chris Licht has already told executive vice president Andrew Morse it will be axed.

It also raised pressing questions about the decision making at the top of the company, with about $300million being blown on the failed streaming service.

Former President Trump celebrated the CNN+ shutdown through a statement.

“Congratulations to CNN+ on their decision to immediately FOLD for a lack of ratings, or viewers in any way, shape, or form,” Trump said in a statement issued on Thursday. “It was like an empty desert out there despite spending hundreds of millions of dollars and the hiring of low-rated Chris Wallace, a man who tried so hard to be his father, Mike, but lacked the talent and whatever else is necessary to be a star. In any event, it’s just one more piece of CNN and Fake News that we don’t have to bother with anymore!”
