Newly elected Senator from Pennsylvania, John Fetterman check himself into Walter Reed National Military Medical Center last night to “receive treatment for clinical depression,” as his Chief of staff, Adam Jentleson confirmed.

In 2022 Fetterman suffered a serious stroke that he was worried he would never be able to fully recover from at the time. Fetterman, while still showing some issues when communicating, has largely been able to come back from his stroke. However, earlier this month Fetterman had to once again be hospitalized due to feeling “light-headed.” Fetterman’s office has since confirmed that he did not suffer another stroke following his examination.

Chief of staff Adam Jentleson said in a statement:

“While John has experienced depression off and on throughout his life, it only became severe in recent weeks,” the statement said.

“On Monday, John was evaluated by Dr. Brian P. Monahan, the attending physician of the United States Congress… Yesterday, Dr. Monahan recommended inpatient care at Walter Reed. John agreed, and he is receiving treatment on a voluntary basis.”

“After examining John, the doctors at Walter Reed told us that John is getting the care he needs, and will soon be back to himself.”
