According to a poll conducted by Redfield & Wilton Strategies for Newsweek, a majority of voters who supported President Joe Biden in the 2020 election believe that he should engage in televised primary debates with other Democratic presidential candidates for the 2024 election. The poll found that 79 percent of eligible voters who voted for Biden agreed that the Democratic Party should hold all-in televised primary debates. However, despite the call for debates by some Democrats, the Democratic National Committee has decided against holding primary debates. The poll suggests that there is skepticism or dissatisfaction among some Democrats with Biden as their party’s future standard-bearer and a desire to see other options challenge him.

The Redfield & Wilton Strategies poll, which surveyed 1,500 eligible voters in the US, revealed that 79 percent of Biden supporters believe that the Democratic Party should organize primary debates. Despite calls from some party members, the Democratic National Committee has already decided against holding them. This decision has been interpreted by some as an attempt to protect Biden’s position from potential challengers such as Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who is already polling at around 20%. Analysts believe that the push for debates is indicative of dissatisfaction among some Democrats with Biden as their party’s future standard-bearer. Recent polling shows that the majority of Democrats would prefer a different direction for the party in 2024.

According to Breitbart:

The Redfield & Wilton Strategies poll found some 68 percent of eligible voters believe the Democratic Party should hold televised debates, compared to 15 percent who answered “no” and 17 percent who responded “don’t know.”

The overall poll was conducted among 1,500 eligible voters in the U.S..

The figure supporting debates was even higher among those who said they’d previously voted for Biden, with 79 percent agreeing there should be Democratic primary debates.

“The fact that such a high percentage of the Democratic electorate wants to see primary debates is confirmatory of polling showing just how dissatisfied rank-and-file voters are with their option of Joe Biden,” Thomas Gift, founding director of University College London’s Centre on U.S. Politics (CUSP), told Newsweek.

“In the end, it doesn’t matter because a messy primary battle would be a nightmare for Democrats, and leadership would never agree to debates that have the potential to weaken Biden heading into the general election.”

The Redfield & Wilton Strategies poll highlights the desire among many Democrats for primary debates leading up to the 2024 presidential election. The fact that 79 percent of Biden supporters believe that the Democratic Party should organize primary debates is telling, and suggests that there is some skepticism or dissatisfaction with him as the party’s future standard-bearer. However, despite calls for debates from some party members, the Democratic National Committee has decided against holding them. While a messy primary battle could weaken Biden heading into the general election, it remains to be seen whether the party will be able to maintain its unity without holding debates. Ultimately, the upcoming 2024 election will be a pivotal moment for the Democratic Party, and how they navigate their internal differences will have significant implications for the future of American politics.

The possibility of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. emerging as a serious contender in the Democratic primaries appears to have caused concern among the party establishment. Kennedy is seen by some as a potential right-wing alternative to Biden. He has expressed skepticism about the COVID-19 vaccine, opposed COVID-19 lockdowns, spoken out against tech censorship, and taken a critical stance on large climate change legislation.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. wouldn’t be the easily manipulated puppet on stings that President Biden is for the Democratic establishment.
