GOP Congressman and Trump Critic Will Hurd Confirms Opposition to Impeachment

GOP Representative Will Hurd who has been a vocal critic of many of President Trump’s actions and policies issued a powerful conclusion following the end of the House Intelligence Committee’s public impeachment hearings.

Hurd stated that he thinks that while President Trump’s actions were wrong and an improper foreign policy approach he does not believe the President’s actions rise to the level of impeachment.

Hill was viewed as a GOP Rep who could join Democrats in supporting impeachment because of his moderate stance, past criticisms, and the fact that he does not face an upcoming election due to retirement.

Part of Hurd’s statement is below:

“An impeachable offense should be compelling, overwhelmingly clear and unambiguous, and it is not something to be rushed or taken lightly. I have not heard evidence proving the president committed bribery or extortion. I also reject the notion that holding this view means supporting all of the foreign policy choices we have been hearing about over these last few weeks.”

Without Hurd or any other GOP Representative voting for impeachment, it raises the likelihood that President Trump will be acquitted by the Senate.
