President Trump has dropped another iconic nickname. This time he has dubbed presidential candidate Mike Bloomberg “Mini Mike” while slamming him for false advertising.
According to Fox News:
President Trump blasted “Mini Mike Bloomberg” over his campaign ad blitz on Monday, accusing the former New York mayor’s presidential campaign of “false advertising” on health care while defending his administration’s record.
….and, if Republicans win in court and take back the House of Represenatives, your healthcare, that I have now brought to the best place in many years, will become the best ever, by far. I will always protect your Pre-Existing Conditions, the Dems will not!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 13, 2020
…
Minutes later, Bloomberg sent a snarky tweet in response, encouraging the president to tag him in his future tweets.
Glad to see you’re watching our ads, @realDonaldTrump. I know management isn’t your strong suit, so perhaps you don’t know your Justice Department supports a suit that would undermine protections for pre-existing conditions. Now that you know, why not ask them to drop the suit?
— Mike Bloomberg (@MikeBloomberg) January 13, 2020
Bloomberg was referring to a Justice Department opinion that said the Affordable Care Act should be overturned, including provisions that require insurance companies to cover individuals with pre-existing conditions.
The back-and-forth over health care between the two New Yorkers centers on the Bloomberg campaign’s unprecedented ad blitz, both touting his own record as mayor and hitting Trump’s record as president.
Bloomberg is taking an interesting approach to the primary after jumping in late, and it remains to be seen if the strategy will work for him.
