The staff at NBC published a story claiming that Paul Manafort had the word donation written next to the RNC on his notes in a meeting with a lawyer that was Russian. 

The story turned out to be a straight-up lie. 

It was revealed that the word donation was not on the paper at all, in fact, the word donor wasn’t even on the note.
