MURDOCK: Biden’s $1.9 Trillion ‘Rescue Plan’ Deserves a Torpedo in its Hull

To paraphrase former Mayor Rahm Emanuel (D – Chicago), never let a global pandemic go to waste.

The House tomorrow will weigh final passage of President Joe Biden’s $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan. It deserves a torpedo in its hull, well below the waterline, so it will sink swiftly to the bottom of the ocean, never to be seen again.

Democrats tout this bill as a valiant effort to save Americans suffering from the China virus and its enormous socio-economic dislocation. Almost everyone supports such assistance for those physically and financially wounded, or worse, by this catastrophe that is the fault of no American.

Alas, Senator Ted Cruz (R – Texas) estimates that just 9 percent of this bill actually provides COVID-19 relief, or roughly $171 billion. The other $1.729 trillion goes to a wide variety of spending priorities for which the Left has screamed for years. Indeed, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki called this measure “the most progressive piece of legislation in history.” And she meant that as a compliment.

Senator Bernie Sanders (Socialist – Vermont) called this bill “the most significant piece of legislation to benefit working people in the modern history of this country.” Coming from him, that is terrifying.

Biden’s nearly $2 trillion mess includes such embarrassments as:

*$10 million to preserve American Indian languages

*$50 million for “environmental justice”

*200 million for the Institute of Museum and Library Services

*$270 million for the National Endowment for the Arts and National Endowment for Humanities

*$45 billion to expand Obamacare

*$350 billion to bail out reckless Democrat state governments

This boondoggle even provides $1,400 stimulus checks to federal and state inmates. Senators Bill Cassidy (R – Louisiana), Cruz, and Tom Cotton (R – Arkansas) offered an amendment to bar these payments to “Son of Sam” David Berkowitz, Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokar Tsarnaev, and Unabomber Ted Kaczynski, among thousands of other killers and criminals.

“Prisoners do not pay taxes,” Cassidy said Saturday on the Senate floor. “Taxpayers pay for their every need. Inmates cannot stimulate the economy. But, under this bill they receive stimulus checks. This is a perfect example of nontargeted, inappropriate, and total waste of spending. It’s ridiculous that this is in the bill.”

Senate Democrats rode to the rescue of these mass murders and, on a party-line vote of 49 Yeas to 50 Nays, defeated this attempt to spare taxpayers this undeserved, hideous, $1.9 billion burden.

One thousand times more expensive than that expense, Biden’s $1.9 trillion shonda passed, 50 Yeas to 49 Nays, before returning to the House for final approval. Democrats can lose no more than four votes on that decision, given unanimous GOP revulsion with this horrible bill. Please call House members at 202-225-3121. Tell them to vote “Hell No!” on the American Rescue Plan. If just five Democrats break with Nervous Nancy Pelosi, this bill will slip between the waves — and not a second too soon.
