In 2009 conservative political commentator Glenn Beck apologized for calling former President Obama a racist but now he’s taking it back. After Obama claimed right-wing media are purposefully stoking fears of critical race theory in White Americans Beck is now doubling down on his initial insult.

According to The Washington Examiner:

“I take my apology back,” Beck told Fox News host Tucker Carlson on Wednesday. “I was exactly right, and I even stated it right. You are a racist if you believe in critical race theory. If you think that what Dr. Martin Luther King said, that he envisions a country that is seeing people for the content of their character and not their color, if you if think that’s wrong, then yes, you are a racist.”

In 2009, Beck told Fox & Friends that he believed Obama is a racist. Years later, Beck said he regretted the comment just after Trump beat Hillary Clinton in 2016.

He then told the New York Times in an interview titled “Glenn Beck Is Sorry About All That”: “I know I wouldn’t believe me if I heard myself apologizing, so I’m telling you now: Don’t take my word for it. Watch my actions. I don’t care what you think about me. All I care about is saying, Please, don’t make the mistake I made.”

Beck also did some flip-flopping on Trump. After opposing Trump in 2016, he later apologized to him.

“I am feeling so humbled this week. I feel truly horrible for the things I said and believed in 2016 about @realDonaldTrump,” Beck said in an August tweet.

Beck retracted his apology during Tucker Carlson Tonight, Beck has previously spoken out against the danger of critical race theory and its implementation in schools across the country.
