CNN’s new streaming platform has already shut its doors and they couldn’t even do that correctly. CNN+ shut down two days earlier than the network initially announced.

The Washington Examiner reports:

The company notified its subscribers that streaming will stop on April 28 instead of April 30, as previously announced, ensuring the service shuts down before the renewal date, Digital Trends reported.

“CNN+ streaming will come to an end on April 28, 2022. If you purchased your subscription directly from us, we will be providing a full refund for your subscription fee back to your original CNN+ payment method by May 28, 2022,” the company said in the email, according to the outlet.

The news company poured an estimated $300 million into the platform, according to the Wall Street Journal, hoping to enter the increasingly saturated streaming service market to hedge itself for a future in which fewer consumers use cable.

When the company announced CNN+ was shutting down, Chris Licht, CEO of CNN Global, told the platform’s employees they would receive pay and benefits for the next 90 days, Deadline reported. They would also be given the opportunity to apply for other jobs at the company, and those who depart will receive six months of severance pay.

The app first launched on March 29th.
