President Trump just announced via Twitter who his next National Security Advisor.
He tweeted, “I am pleased to announce that, effective 4/9/18, @AmbJohnBolton will be my new National Security Advisor. I am very thankful for the service of General H.R. McMaster who has done an outstanding job & will always remain my friend. There will be an official contact handover on 4/9.”

President Trump’s current Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley thanked H.R. McMaster for his service. (Note: Ambassador to the UN was also a position that John Bolton held during George W. Bush’s Presidency):

Appointment as National Security Advisor does not require Senate confirmation so there should be a smooth transition on April 9th as McMaster passes the baton over to Bolton.
