For all the wasted breath on Russian collusion, it appears that CNN and MSNBC have their own collusion issues. Newsbusters reports that the hostile, fake news networks promoted the fake-Russian troll rallies after the election like they were organic American protests.
On November 12, 2016, the same rally mentioned in Mueller’s indictment, CNN and MSNBC enthusiastically covered the Russian-organized anti-Trump rally that day, with live reports every hour. Correspondents happily repeated the marchers’ anti-Trump slogans, such as: “We reject the President-elect.” Fox News recapped the rally with 66 seconds of coverage, while their liberal counterparts covered the rally extensively all that afternoon.
While CNN and MSNBC did not know it was organized by Russian trolls, they were happy to cover its anti-Trump imagery. MSNBC anchor Alex Witt asked the reporter on the ground, “Hey, Morgan, can you tell who has organized this rally?…Is there someone in charge here?”
“Right now, this is lots of different groups of people who have come together,” Radford explained, “with no, necessarily, official leader, and that’s been some of the criticism.” They passed the rally off as if it were an organic response to Trump’s election, and like so many events they cover, was “fake grassroots”, or “Astroturf” as it’s come to be known; this means the media may or may not have been duped, but will report negative coverage of Trump regardless.
