After increasing the number of abortions that Planned Parenthood performs annually by over 10 percent, Cecile Richards is planning to step down as the organization’s president.
Two sources familiar with the matter toldBuzzFeed News that Richards plans to leave her post after running Planned Parenthood for more than a decade.
“Cecile plans to discuss 2018 and the next steps for Planned Parenthood’s future at the upcoming board meeting,” scheduled for next week, the organization said in a statement.
Richards has served as the president of Planned Parenthood since 2006, when the pro-abortion group terminated 289,750 pregnancies. By 2013, the number of abortions grew dramatically to 327,000. Since Richards took over the organization in 2006, the number of abortions it performs annually has increased by nearly 11 percent.
