Schumer’s Shutdown shows Democrats care more about illegal immigrants than sick American kids. The math is simple. American kids in the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) may well vote one day. However, Democrats’ goal for DACA is full amnesty, meaning that 3.6 million, not the 800,000 that is often reported, many of whom are of voting age, could be in the pipeline for future Democrat electoral successes. 
 
Democrats have been complaining about CHIP funding’s expiration for months. Speaker Ryan (R-Wis.) compromised, putting forth funding in the short-term spending bill for six years, which was less than the original ten requested by Democrats. Republicans would like to include CHIP in any entitlement reform, and therefore would not like to perpetuate the status quo on CHIP longer than necessary, yet the Speaker offered this to entice wayward Democrats to fund the government. House Minority Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) called this move “doggy doo”.  
 
The House of Representatives passed a bill that funds the government for a month, including the 6-year funding for the CHIP program; the Senate, where Schumer’s Democrats control 49 seats seems unlikely to pass the same bill. The DACA program expires on March 5th, yet Democrats are more concerned with extending that program than funding CHIP or keeping the government funded as they scream about poor people’s pain that they themselves are inflicting. This leads to the conclusion that Democrats care more about illegal immigrants than sick kids, as Democrats are using both groups the to gain and consolidate power.
