President Trump on Monday accused Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) of hypocrisy for opposing his decision not to certify Iran’s compliance with the nuclear deal negotiated during the Obama administration.
“Dem Senator Schumer hated the Iran deal made by President Obama, but now that I am involved, he is OK with it. Tell that to Israel, Chuck!” Trump wrote on Twitter.
Schumer voted in favor of a motion to disapprove of the Iran nuclear deal, which he opposed as negotiated.
But he has since offered support for keeping the deal in place, arguing that with sanctions on Iran previously imposed by the United States and its allies now lifted, it would make little sense for the U.S. to move away from the deal on its own.
