Donald Trump isn’t having it. This week, he unloaded on the Democratic senator:
President Trump attacked Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer on Monday, accusing him of crying “fake tears” at a news conference Sunday where he called Trump’s executive order banning travel from seven Muslim-majority nations “mean-spirited.”
After saying that Senate Democrats are intentionally stalling his Cabinet selections, Trump attacked the New York Democrat, who appeared to well up during his scheduled news conference on Sunday while talking about the order.
“I noticed Chuck Schumer yesterday with fake tears. I’m going to ask him who is his acting coach ’cause I know him very well,” Trump said while appearing at a meeting with small business owners.
“I don’t see him as a crier. If he is, he’s a different man. There’s about a 5 percent chance it was real, but I think they were fake tears,” Trump said.
