Barack Obama made his national name on foreign policy. The rookie senator flanked Hillary Clinton on the Iraq War in the 2008 Democrat primary, and the rest is history. Hillary was a Senator in 2003; Obama wasn’t elected until 2004 and didn’t face the pressure to vote for the Iraq War in the wake of 9/11 to go to war.
His election was supposed to herald the end of costly foreign intervention; clearly, that didn’t work. Obama wants to be in the history books as the president who took down Bin Laden, but we have a list of five times he should be in the history books, and not in a good way.
