O'Rourke is not the most seasoned candidate but he can fundraise which makes him a popular pick to run against the President. He will probably need to win against Cruz first, which seems unlikely.
Robert De Niro says Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-Texas), who is locked in a tight Senate battle, might be able to one day challenge President Trump for the White House.
“This Beto O’Rourke seems interesting,” De Niro told Bloomberg News on Thursday, when asked who would be the best replacement for Trump.
O’Rourke is trying to unseat incumbent Sen. Ted Cruz (R) in the Lone Star State.
Recent polls have consistently shown Cruz leading, but the race has drawn national attention to the deep-red state.
