Trump Donates Third Quarter Salary to Opioid Crisis Battle

Since taking office President Trump has donated all of his presidential salary back to the government to specific causes he deems important.

The third-quarter salary for 2019 has been donated to help fight the opioid crisis.

According to The Hill:

President Trump is reportedly donating his third-quarter salary to help fight the nation’s opioid crisis.

The president gave the $100,000 he would have been paid during the third quarter to the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Health, which oversees a number of the Department of Health and Human Services’s programs, the White House said, according to The Associated Press.

The funds are being earmarked “to continue the ongoing fight against the opioid crisis,” the White House said.

Trump pledged when he took office that he would not accept his $400,000 annual salary that comes with serving in the Oval Office. During his White House tenure, he has donated it in quarterly installments to various government agencies.

President Trump’s second-quarter salary also went to help fight the opioid crisis but was donated to the Office of the Surgeon General.
