This Man Called Jeff Sessions Racist. The Truth?

The Daily Caller did an excellent deep dive into Thomas Figures, the assistant district attorney who accused Jeff Sessions of making several racist statements that sunk his nomination to the federal bench. It turns out, Figures has a long history of bizarre behavior. This looks like another hoax hate crime concocted by liberals. As the Caller notes:

New sworn statements obtained by The Daily Caller News Foundation given by former colleagues allege Figures, who died in 2015, was a paranoid figure who, among other things, believed “CBS Evening News” anchor Dan Rather was communicating with him through his television. An office loner with a flair for confrontation, Figures was later indicted by federal authorities for attempting to bribe a witness.

30 years later, his testimony continues to shape press coverage of Sessions’ nomination to serve as attorney general in the Trump administration.

This is of course irrelevant and downplayed now, although it’s curious that Democrats haven’t raised Figures allegations during today’s testimony. Perhaps this is why. The man who made this allegations was a certifiable nut at best, and a criminal at worst. Let’s hope Republican lawmakers acknowledge this in their defense of Sessions.
