Donald Trump is on his thank you tour, and something incredible happened. Trump praised Speaker Paul Ryan.
Trump has been visiting multiple states on his ongoing “Thank You Tour” to thank people who voted for him in the 2016 election. He stopped Tuesday night in Wisconsin, a state that surprised many by going to Trump instead of Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.
“Speaker Paul Ryan, I’ve really come to–,” Trump said.
The audience began to boo and he immediately stopped what he was saying to address the people at the rally.
“Oh no!” he said. “I’ve come to appreciate him.”
The booing died down.
“Speaker Paul Ryan, where is speaker?” he asked as he looked around.
The video of the event then cut to Trump describing his appreciation for Ryan.
“He’s like a fine wine,” Trump said.
The audience made some noise.
“Every day goes by, I get to appreciate his genius more and more,” Trump said.
Many conservatives are not going to like this, but it’s not a bad thing. The GOP is in power now, and Trump will have to work with the Speaker to implement his agenda. Conservatives have a quick window to repeal and replace Obamacare and bring about strong regulatory form, and we can’t waste time bickering. There will be disagreements, but we can’t lose sight of the big picture goal here: Making America Great Again.
