President Trump didn’t bribe the North Koreans with tribute money like Bill Clinton but pressured them into committing to the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula. This is a victory that wasn’t supposed to happen, and yet even his enemies privately concede that this is a big deal. A foreign policy win like that makes it harder for his enemies to delegitimatize him, which is a huge birthday present.
