The Senate is narrowly in Republican hands, with a 51 seat majority. Sen. McCain (R-Ariz.) may not be able to vote due to his health. If all Democrats, and even one Republican vote against him, the nominee goes down. Many of the president’s suggestions on the list of 25 are fine candidates, but only a few are viable with this Senate. Trump had more moderate choices but chose the most conservative one possible.
Of the four finalists, I think Kavanaugh is probably the easiest for the red-state Democrats to oppose without paying much of a political price. https://t.co/5yIt2WExNA
